Default wagon meets curb...

ok so i busted a curb at about 40 at an angle on the driver side. pretty much head on, but a slight angle. the tire ripped off the wheel, got that fixed. now that i got the wheel back on the car. the wheel sits towards the far back under the fender. when i do sharp turns the tire makes a funny noise going forward and u can also feel it in the wheel in reverse. do i need to replace the tire rod or what do you guys think is bent?

hopefully no major suspension pieces are bent/broken. my first guess would be to change the tie rod ends and maybe the steering rack

Your radius rod is probably bent.

Just a quick story..similar to above....

We were coming back from the track (1320) at about 12-1am. I was following a friend of mine who was driving a 88' si with a d16y8 conversion. The desert is pretty dark, and we were trying to ditch some others so we were hauling ***. I see my buddies rear tails get smaller and smaller..(he shot a 70) and then I see his tail lights bump, and jump like 4 feet!!!!! I flew my *** down there and see that he hit a curb, leaving his broken axles on the street, landing in the desert about 20 feet from the curb. He was seat belted, but still broke his face and ribs on the wheel, and he broke his right leg too.

Sorry about being a ***** and all, you just reminded me of some of the crap we been into.

i flipped my first car (90 crx) and didnt have my seat belt on, and rolled the car also. and supposidly flew out the back hatch 50 feet from the car

but anyways, i checked it out last weekend and you can see that the lower control arm is definatly bent.

Did the front cross member hit the curb? I recently spent 7 hours on a frame machine straightening the front end of my newly aquired 91 Wagon. The cross member hit the curb and pushed it into the oil pan and down pipe, and crushed the passenger fender and side skirt and broke the driver headlight. It even dented the rear cross member. the radius rods were also bent. the cross member bent the frame and ripped the bolts out that hold the cross member in. I suggest jacking the car up and making sure you didn't do anymore damage than the control arm.

i did jack up the car, thats how i saw the control arms are bent. i didnt take notice to anything else, but im sure there is more damage. im driving the car currently. it drives in a straight line, except the steering wheel is cocked a bit to be going straight. just driving it waiting till i can get a chance to find a control arm...then figger out what else i need.

you probably blew out the strut rod bushings as well. all those parts interchange witha civic in the front though, so it should be easy to find stuff.

same thing happened to my moms car it was the control arm....your rim might be a little bent, check your tires too because they wear down extremely easy when you bend your control arm if i was you i would also get the car re-alighned because if not that could cause extreme damage to your tires....all of this is really important because the same thing happened to me this winter while driving my moms car in the rain control arm, rim, tire, alighnment super important! oh yea and usdm sucks

in my accident the radius rod, tie rod, and bushing in the rack and pinion broke.

Things to check for:
1) inner and outer tie rod
2) cv joints
3) radius rod, it goes from where the tie rods are to around the front bumper cover.
4) rack and pinion bushing, it it craked and broke off parts might have fell into the cv boots.
5) check the bolts on the rack and pinion becuase if those are loose it will mess up your steering.

you can try measuring the distance between your front and rear wheels on both sides with a measuring tape. if the ditstances are off its probably the radius rod that's bent. I hope this helps you out.
