Default 5 Wire o2 to 4 Wire o2 wiring...

I need serious help here and i am at the end of my rope...

I had one of Vtecvoodoos Ryan's rewire my 5 wire HX o2 to a 4 wire y8 o2. Everything went well for a while then i got a primary o2 cel code. I drove it like that for a while and it had really bad hesitation, low idle etc. I thought it might a bad o2 since ryan knows his sh*t with wiring, so i picked up a new bosch o2 (cheap) and plugged it in, well the car ran alot better strong idle, no hesitation. That was yesterday, now this afternoon i started my car up, and the o2 code is back. Does anyone have a 4 wire o2 wiring diagram? or know how to solve this, I really don't know much about wiring so a diagram may not help me figure out what is wrong...

sorry it cant be done. get a four wire o2 sensor and run the four wires directly to the ecu. if you do a search you'll get a lot of info in where those 4 wires go

you simply CANNOT use a 5 wire sensor in a 4 wire system. you probably broke the 5 wire sensor. just get the one that works with your system. that's all you can do.

Maybe i didnt give clear details, I am NOT using the 5 wire. I am using a 4 wire, but some of the wires at the plug are the same so he repinned the 4wire connecter so i can use a 4 wire 02. I did search about the 4 wire setup, but its all for vx's 92-95, nothing for the hx 96-98

same **** it is probably not the wiring if it is working for a while. are you running rich? is your cat almost clogged? things to check

Yo I have that same EXACT problem. I had the 92 VX 5 wire sensor (same as yours) now I'm using the bosch 4 wire. I CANNOT GET RID OF THE CODE!!!

I'm getting an oxygen content code, is this the one your getting?

If you figure this out post it!

nah just getting the 1 blink primary o2 code, nothing else...my cat is still clear and when it is hesitating, it may be running rich because it eats gas like a ****. all the wiring help i've foun is for the 92-95 vx's nothing for the 96-98 hx...

But as someone pointed out, if it was the wiring, it should run like crap all the time. But it goes from good to bad to good again, esp if running temp is up. what the figgity f*ck?

its too bad you could have sold that 5 wire for $150 bux and bought a $20 dollar bosch 4 wire used.

THAT WAS IT!!! I also got the wiring diagrams from Spade and traced it down. For some reason i had a red/black wire pinned where the green/blk should have been in the plug, so i popped the green/blk out of the old 5 wire plug and into the spot where the red/blk was. Now the car idled fine, no hesitation...now the real test will be in a day or two, see if the code comes back, but i'm pretty sure that was it. But you can't have good news without bad...

Only thing is I took off my veh speed sensor (plug with a gear on the end into the tranny) to put more fluid into my tranny, and when i tightened it up i broke the bracket that the bolt goes thru to hold it in place. I have my old one off the HX tranny, anyone know if I can swap it?

okay the way i had to hook up my plug wires were as follows, this i looking at the female end of the plug from the wire side,
this side -> F from engine ------[] -[]---- M to o2
[ White | Green/Blk ]
[ Blk/Yel | Blk/Wht ]

White is primary o2 sensor signal
Green/Blk is ground for primary o2
Blk/Wht drives primary o2 sensor
Blk/Yellow switched power

On my bosch o2
the the signal wire is blue and corresponds to the white signal wire on the old o2 plug
Heater wires are black and correspond the the black wires on the old o2
and ground is white which corresponds to green on the old o2.

Hope this helps
