Default yet ANOTHER noob needs HELP.

Did search but came up empty handed... so i turn to you guys.

1. 89 dx. D15 runs ok, BUT something is wrong. i try to floor it in any gear and beyond 3-4000 RPM the engine revs like **** but the speed doesnt change. so basically my car doesnt pull after 3-4000 RPM unless i very very gently press on the throttle.

so.. do i need a new clutch or a new transmission?

2. car sometimes revs WAY TOO HIGH in IDLE... not always but more frequently now then before... i put the car in neutral and it revs at 2000 RPM. but if i pull the gas pedal towards me with my foot then it goes back down to 700 RPM.

does anyone know what causes this?

3. ok on previous post while searching through archives i found post on car reving up and down.... well i have a crx cluster so i can actually see the RPM going UUUUP and DOOOOWN.... one guy said to unplug and replug the ECU..

I DONT KNOW WHERE IT IS ON MY CAR!!! SOMEONE PLEEEASE TELL ME WHERE MY ECU IS LOCATED.

and AECV... i will look up for that one....

anyways ANY help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

#1. Not to sure about that one, there's alot of variables there.
#2. DEFINATELY your throttle cable. I had the exact same thing happen to my civic. the good thing is that there less than $20 brand new from the Honda dealership
#3. your ECU is located on the passenger side, underneath the carpet, where your feet would be. Start your car a count the blinking lights (if there are any) and if you don't have a Chilton or something, post the #'s and i'll tell you what code ur ECU is throwin.

#1 sounds like a slipping clutch. I'll bet your clutch is toast.
#2 Definitely throttle cable. Try adjusting it to specs first. If that doesn't work, then just replace it.
#3 Your ecu is under the passenger carpet, near the firewall. But if you want to reset your ecu, you can just disconnect your negative battery cable for 5 minutes, then re-connect it.

After you check all that and everything turns out ok, let us know if your car was throwing any codes.

no start the car leave it run and it should keep blinking if anything is wrong with it. you count the blinks while its on......it will blink once when you turn it on thats normal.....

You may want to clean your throttle body before buying a throttle cable. It could just be some soot built up in there.

Also before you go pulling your tranny and buying a clutch. Check the clutch cable tension, it may just need to be adjusted.
