Default Engine Details

I have a 2000 Civic 2dr EX (USA Spec)

What Generation is this?

What model is my civic? EF? EG? or what?

and finally does anyone know what the stock motor model number is. ( SOHC VTEC )?

ek, eg, ef etc. are chassis codes
the ek=96-00 hatch
eg=92-95 hatch...
these are both hatches... i dont know what the coupes are

for example;
dc=94-01 2 door integra
db=94-01 4 door integra

dc2=2 door type-r
db8=4 door type-r

ek9=civic type-r

this topic is talked about soo much. to all the chasis code guru's explain this one. everyone thinks the 96+ civic is the ek. ie. the civic type r is the ek9. well then... why is my car (00 civic hatch) designated as an "EJ" along with a friend of mine's 96 hatch which is also designated as an "EJ" in the vin number...

peace,
brian

i don't know about that one, it depends on where the chassis was put together. for example, my chassis is from canada and it is a 92-95 supposed to be eg, but something else. (i'll have to look to see what it is again).

for nyc racer: do you need the engine code? i'll check my girlfriend's 98 sohc vtec engine. if that is the year you need. i believe it's d16y. not sure, but, like i said, i'll check to make sure.

because in 2000, Honda was testing various performance aspects of the ek and put GSR motors in the test vehicles with SOHC valve cover. those units weren't supposed to have left the factory but three showed up missing. Didn't you notice your car feeling faster than most?

the sohc valve cover wouldn't fit over the gsr engine.
