You've certainly hit the right message board for Hondas 
In Japan, the '92-'95 Civic SiR had the chassis code of "EG6." That is why a '92-'95 Civic hatchback is usually referred to as an "EG," even though their chassis code is "EH."
Same thing with "EK" and "EF." EK = '96-'00 and EF = '88-'91
