Default Suspension set-ups at the EXPO

Just wondering if anyone noticed that certain suspension setups were faster than other setups?

Faster is determined by driver ability, not suspension ability....

You really need to be more specific with your question, as well as searching (dont forget archived topics)

i bet if you put a novice on track with a stock suspension, and then on a nice buddy club or zeal suspension and took lap times they'd be more inconsistent on the 'better' setup and about as fast either way.

Agreed. I did search the archives, and it seems that people like the mugen lowdowns, and the zeal coilovers.

I'm thinking maybe some of the instructors may have noticed certain setups as being "better".

My stock suspension (as an instructor at the expo) was quite nice.
I paid for the car and it came with it.

I was not fast at all.... but better suspension and tires will quickly change that.

My suggestion:
Do the best with 'what you have' before dropping cash to make you think you are going faster.

You are right. But I have one payment left and want to buy something for it as a celebration for paying it off.

I didn't even think about it. I'll do that now. Thanks

There's a place, and scope for each forum. Members read said forum for advice and/or entertainment.

Hence why there isnt discussion about street racing/kills and 'what backpack should i buy' in the RR forums. Just like turning on speedvision and getting a martha steward cooking show. Ok, well maybe not that horriffic.

yup, and its still the same useless information as always. Kinda like an arguement about who has a better pizza...with the presidents of pizza hut and papa johns arguing against one another. It goes nowhere, and both 'sides' have their own opinion.

btw, i like papa johns thin crust....but thats not the point

By that rational, speedvision wouldn't have nascar and infomercials. Just auto racing.

Don't forget the "True" Coilover vs. coilover sleeves thread.

You mean "threaded body" vs "threaded sleeves"? all are coilovers, even the stock setup are coilovers.

The only argument was the Koni+GC route most racers take to comply with IT rules vs. the "JDM" setups (buddyclub, zeal, tein, JIC, etc, etc).

Summary: Koni sports are street shock but can work well in racing. Koni also sells more appopriate 'racing' shocks. 'JDM' coilovers usually handle high spring rates and have big pistons and indpendent hight/spring seat adjustments. Make your own choice based on budget and intended use.

Let's not forget the "USDM" or european threaded body setups with big shafts and high rates with appropriate valving. I see no need to buy a japanese setup when I could just but some advanced design or others.

Nearly everyone i've spoken to about the Advance Design shocks has had problems with either the shocks, the shocks puking fluid (blown), or GC customer service.

I was very interested in these at one time.

interesting, I've never played with DC2/other honda ones but the SE-R ones work great with no issues at all GC customer service we've had GREAT experience with, they even sent us some parts because a retailer fugged up. Customer Service is weird tho, I always treat the rep with respect until I have a reason not to and have NEVER had a problem doing it that way. I always have to wonder how the customer dealt with the service rep although I rarely hear good or bad about GC CS. I did see someone complain about comptech's CS before.. and I have no clue how one would complain about them as their customer service is very very good.

(and no I'm not saying all GC reps are good, just saying my experience was)
