Default turbo head gasket

OK, so one of my friends has a '94 GSR w/a t3/t4 turbo setup. He has a leaky head gasket and needs it replaced soon, is there a recommended head gasket he should be using? I've heard that he would benefit from a thicker head gasket but I'm not sure how much of a difference in compression this would make or if it is even worth it. Does anyone have any input on this? prices?

Thanks.

OEM

I believe it's possible to stack 2 of them on top of each other.

Do you know this for sure? Can anyone verify?
Also, how will this affect compression and is it really worth it?

Thicker head gasket = less compression
Thinner head gasket = more compression

You are running boost so i would stick with the OEM. I do believe you can stack 2 of them together. You do not need to go thinner. If anything, go thicker. When you go into boost your compression level goes up.

Is it worth it? How much does it affect compression?
Thanks.

Cometic is pretty much the same as inline pro, except cometic is half the price.
I have a used .043 inch cometic for sale. It will lower a gsr motor down to about 9.5:1. It was used for a week but its still good. I thought I blew it, but I actually had a cracked sleeve.

It is in perfect condition, almost looks brand new out of the packaging. 25 bucks shipped.

Default turbo head gasket

That's a good question...I have a brand new head gasket, and also a slighty used one, would it be safe to combine those 2 ? or should I get another new one ?

Cometic makes a gasket for boost:

http://www.nipponpower.com/eng....html

There are four thicknesses available there (one is stock).

FYI -- Mark

--

Cometic HP Style head gasket has an extra shim around the combustion area to help seal better for cars with turbo, nitrous or supercharger. Cometic's MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) Gaskets are constructed of two nitrile coated outer embossed spring steel layers with a steel inner layer that provides support to the gasket allowing multiple thickness. Cometic gaskets withstands the shearing forces created by aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. Once the gasket takes a torque set, there is no re-torquing required. Less clamping force is required allowing for reduced bore distortion.

2 oem gaskets with 12:1 compression? better check your math.

each gasket is about .37" thick that would lower the compression by at least half a point.

A friend of mine has a boosted type r with forged pistons he was at 8.9 or so and he bought the spoon head gasket and raised his comp to about 9.3 just for the little umph in the low end he also is running a t3/t4 with hondata. I would recomend it. I've heard bout doubling up on the oem gaskets but a great mechanic that I know said you must remove the copper grommets that hold the gasket together and when we tried it we decided that this is way to much of a pain in the ars. I'm sure some guys have done this but me=no patience and ups is much more efficiant Spoon gasket=
