help save me money if possible
all right heres the deal, im in the process of paying off my diamond audio componets, the place im buying them said I need an amp to push them, 75watts min. and my next step is the sub, I was thinking about a jl w6v2 or w7. and I was going to get at least 750 watt amp for this, but the jl amps pull 100amps and my alternaor only puts out 90 i think (95 gsr teg). so to amp pulling 100amps apeice means dead alt. any suggestions on amps other than jl or a bad as 5 channel for this setup

Two things to keep in mind:
1. The W7 and W6 only need a 500/1 to sound good. I'm betting that amp will surprise you, and word around the camp fire is that it puts out 800W anyway.
2. These peak current demands are not how you want to set your alternator size. Music is full of transients, meaning unless you are listening to sine waves all day long or you want to go deaf early, you will RARELY if ever hit that 100A mark.
Edit: IMO, one of the best high powered 5 channel amps out there is the Memphis Belle - 75 x 4 @ 4 ohm + 1000W x 1 @ 1 ohm mono (that could be a two ohm...I forget)

That is a beast
dc2, if you are looking at the w7 also check out the diamond tdx, if your shop has it.

Davinci is my favorite multi channel amplifier. This doesn't really save you money though.
Rcurley is correct about the current draw. If it was me I would go buy an amplifier you like. Then measure the current draw while the stereo is playing and the car is running. You should be able to get some idea of how much current you will need. From here you can decide if you need a new alternator.

You will be fine. I am assuming dc2 has a teg.
I have a JL 300/4 which is 75x4 and an arc 1500dr at about 1000x1. It takes sick bass volume to dim my lights. I don't think you will have a problem.
