i'm about to get some b16(170hp) sir 2 cams for my first gen b16
how can i tell if i'm really geting the right cams. is there any thing on the cam that can identify it as being the second gen b16 cams
how much more power can i expect? how much more hp?
i heard that the only reason the second gen b16 has 10 more hp is from the cams.
is this true? and if it is can i expect 10 more hp?

hey man, some advice--do a search on it first...but here's pics. look at the rings/grooves on the distributor side of the camshafts...they should match whichever b-series vtec cam you want. btw, itr and ctr exhaust cams are the same...also, i think the 98-99 itr is different from the 00+ itr
honestly i would save up some money and get some other cams. the 2nd gen you are thinkin about will not give you an extra 10 hp. the cams are a lil more aggressive then the 1st gen but the 2nd gen also has a slighly higher compression. hope that helps. correct me if im wrong

i agree, get the ctr or skunk2 stage 1 or two cams instead if you want to upgrade

the 2nd gen doesnt have 10 more hp than the first gen because of the cams,
there is minimum diffrence in the cams,
the reason the 2nd gen b16a makes more power, is the compression is higher.

Yea, not worth swaping IMO... keep you 40$ and find 260$ more and get some ITR.
The combination of the cams, .2 more CR and the ecu give you the extra HP of the second gen.
BTW, "SIR 2" doesn't mean its a 2nd gen B16A.

Im glad somebody pointed that out. The 2nd gen TBs are massive in comparrison to the 1st gen.

Well you will not gain 10hp from just the cams. I'm thinking about 4-5whp.
for $40bux sure why not. You should only get them if you know how to properly install them yourself. If you have to pay for installtion... it's not worth it.
good luck
