Default Help!!! I'm about to buy ITR.

PY ITR #01-1301 with 9242 miles.
Exterior:
1) no bodywork repairs as far as I can tell all body panels have original VIN# stickers on them, no dings or dents.
2) some scratches in front lip, one "medium" scratch on rear bumper
3) slight discoloration on rearview mirrors and front fascia(I've seen several integras like, is this normal?)
4) weatherstripping around windows is "rough"

Interior:
1) no blemishes or spots in seats or upholstery
2) no cracks on dash or door panels, some minor marks on cargo panels
3) fairly clean but the owner drove a lot with windows down so there is dust in all little joints and crevices etc. (probable signs of track use)

Engine:
1) everything is stock!!!!!
2) I checked ALL the bolts and nuts to see if they have been messed with and no signs of "wrenching" is evident. The FPR still have that little paint on the bolts so does the TB and the IM. The nuts on the valve cover don't show any marks either.

There is one thing that worries me. The bolts that mate the tranny to the engine do show marks around them (weird 'cause the motor mounts don't) How can I know if the LSD or even the true ITR gearing is inside?

C'mon help me! I will test drive the car this weekend. I'll check the stamps on the head to see if its a real ITR head and check the VIN # on the tranny to see if it matches. I'm not crazy dude some people here really slick.

Run the vin on Carfax and make sure it was never wrecked / stolen.
Do a compression test if your'e worried about the motor- with only 9,000 miles that shouldn't be an issue.
Dust in the crevasses is not a sign of track use - it's a sign of car use
Check that all body panels are aligned properly.
Check for all records, manuals. etc.
Are the Original Re-010 tires still on the car, in good shape? (if so - it was DEFINATELY not a track car - they wear out very quickly).

Do a search! This topic has been covered 100 times already...
good luck

Oh - if your'e worried about the LSD - jack up the front of the car, and rotate one of the drive wheels - the other should rotate in the opposite direction - this means the LSD is present and operating correctly...

NO!!! This is NOT true. That only proves that the diff is working correctly. You would get the same results with an open diff (no LSD).

To see if the LSD is there/working, just gas it around a corner in first, you should feel it at work.

Jordo: This is the only way to be sure everything that makes an ITR is in there. Cams could be change for GSR or SI cams or the TB even the tranny like I said. Also by inspecting the bolts and nuts you can learn everything that have been made to the car from repairs to mods. It helps diagnose future problems and saves you from buying a lemon.

Philly_NBP_R: No the original tires are gone. The wheels are in very good shape.

TYPER 599: I think Carfax will not work for cars in Puerto Rico

Either you can rip the axels out and look, or just feel for it during your test drive.
