***Anyone ever bought an EBAY chip before........***
I recently bought an EBAY performance chip for my 90 civic SI and haven't had a problem since! It was only $25
. I noticed a huge change across the powerband!!!
Just wanted to know if anybodyelse has bought one or had any problems?? THANX!

i think hyperducktuning is the most widely used chip producer for ROM's that are just plug & play. if you wanted something setup specifically for your setup then you'd need hondata or something, but for ROM's around here I would say teh Adrien at hyperduck get's most folks business.
markw on this board did my ecu, dual rom chip, i run the stock program on one half and then mmr on the second side of the chip. i just flip a switch to toggle between programs. it works great

I have never heard of that before. so you are saying that a socket was provided along w/ a toggle switch that allows you to choose between 2 programs? That would be PHAT for different situations, i.e. track & daily driving. do you have links to more info about this?

if you crack open your ecu... you will see a jumper at J1... instead, cut/desolder the jumper and solder in a switch... voila, a switch to toggle between stock map and aftermarket map...

Here's the mod. I take two rom images and put them onto a bigger rom, then modify the ecu to use the bigger rom. It's switch selectable, and works great.
Here's some pics of one I did this weekend for my car.

Soldering the jumper with a switch only works with ODB1. ODB0 ecus need the larger rom, traces cut, jumpers installed, etc.

markw- i sent a pm- i am interested in this- how much would you charge to mod an ecu? do you have any zc programs? would i need to send you an ecu, or would you supply the ecu & charge for it? this seems liek a very cool mod

i would have to say no since ive never seen / heard of anyone making a chip for the pm5 and pm9 ecu

This is VERY interesting... would it be possible, for instance, to have two Hondata programs set up on a P28 ECU, one for race gas and one for street pump gas, and then have the capability to tune both maps as well as switch between at will?
dang, I guess I'll just stick to some **** Billy made He calls it Bill-Tech Air Fuel Controller. Its some little black box you hook up to the air temp sensor I think, I don't know what it does but it shure did help a little. At first we had it hooked up backwards and I came back and told him it doesn't work so he switched the wires and dang I was impressed. Kinda pricey though for $75 but he says it will work on any car with and air temp sensor. Oh well it will do untill I swap in the ZC and chip the ZC ecu with a EBAY chip.
We used to just unplug the coolant temp sensor on the 5.0 mustangs and plug it into one that was just hanging there, that was worth about .1 or so in the 1/4. I haven't really gotten into tuning my honda for drags, it runs 10 flats with no traction in the 1/8 (2.5-2.6 60 foot). I'm having more fun autocrossing and roadracing now.

Just do an MPFI swap then run the Si ecu and chip it. There's nothing you can do to the DPFI to make it fast anyways.

I bought an Ebay "Mugen" program, but haven't installed it yet. Does anybody know of a good place to get a socket for cheap?

J1 jumper can only be used on the OBDI type ECUs not non-obd which, require a larger capacity ROM (27c512k), this will allow you to store two programs, then its to Pin1 and switch to change between pages. I persoanally don't like doing this or the J1 jumper. as the car needs to be truned off and ECU memory purged to have any effects/changes or no CELs (yes I know it will work for some and no CELs or problems).
as far as DX (DPFI) programs, I never heard of one or seen one. anyways best to change to MPFI, get a PM6/PR4 ECU and you can start making alot more power and it will allow you to play with the ecu.

I would recommend vtecrx for your chipping needs. Everything that he does(he did my wiring) looks completely stock...and believe me this guy knows his **** when it comes to electronics. Well he does wire airplanes for a living so he sorta has to be good at it
. Not to mention that his prices are ALOT cheaper than anyone ive found. He also has the best customer service of anybody ive ever worked with...he drove 3 hours to do my wiring for me. He has kept in touch with me to make sure everything is ok...and i havent had a damn cel since the swap. And if you talk to him and your cool with him he might ship the chipped ecu out to you then you can just take out your other one and ship it back to him...voila...no downtime. Last time i talked to himhe was workingin a hondata knockoff program. And if you go to him be sure and tell him that sean sent you...maybe hell give me a discount on something. Hope this helped.
PS-if you want to get in touch with him you can im him on here...or you can IM him on AIM his sn is sccascp182 i think.
