Q: about oil smoke...
Can anyone please tell me why and how to fix this:
engine smokes if left sitting for a few day (using 10W30) during cold start
(it is the white oil smoke...smells like buring oil...not the water vapor)
besides the smoking thing...engine feels strong...and the smoke will
go away once the engine warms up.
engine really smokes once I switch to thicker oil (20w50) with couple bottle of oil treatment...half of the block is filled with thick, stinky smoke....even after 3~4 minutes of warm up.
The car even lost power with thick oil....kinda like gasket is going out...except with thinner oil (5w30 or 10w30), I don't feel that..
btw, gasket seems to be fine...no water in oil and vice versa...spark plugs looks a little be hot, but otherwise look okay...(gray area around the tip/electrode, and black with some carbon around the bottom.) All four of them looks pretty much identical to each other...and no oil under the spark plug boot.
one more question....how do you clean the valve from carbon desposite (don't want to open the head if possible.)
Thanks in advance,

Yup, Time for a valve job. You oil rings are fine, just fix your valve guides. and continue running 10-30. with the heaveyer wieght oil your causing more friction within the motor causing you to loose power (ever so slightly)
