Default Tein owner, please read...

Just this past weekend, I changed back to summer tires and noticed that one of the spring seat lock on my TeinHA broke. It has a gap of about 1/8" and doesn't fall out. I am wondering its ability to keep the spring seat in place and thinking a replacement should be made ASAP.
Would the spring seat be strong enough to hold the spring, without the lock?
How much and from where can I acquire the lock, either for one or a whole set?
TIA

Being that Tein uses two adjustable perches which are held in place by friction, how did one of them break?

I am guessing the combination of salt and BIG freaking potholes took the life of it.

were the teins too stiff for your friend? what reason did he give you for not liking them? i guess the mugens would be better for you though, they fit your "theme" better

It really seems like the people who have bad experiences with the Tein coilovers are always using their low end products. This gives people a bad preception of Tein's entire line when their higher level stuff is very very good, and really competitive at price points.

I have the Tein RE and I am very satisfied with the build quality, I have not gotten to the track with them yet but I will as soon as possible and post up a review of their performance. They are also "liveable" on the street even with the 14k front 10k rear spring rates. So far I am very satisfied.

In regards to the topic, I am not too sure what component you are refering to. Maybe if you could be a little more descriptive or post a picture or something I could be of help. Sorry I can't help you now. Best of luck to ya in figuring it out

No, don't get me wrong. I like my TeinHA very much, which is also 14K, 10K as well, street driven only so far. While I agree that RE, RA are better product (Al casing, read mega $$$), I don't agree that HA is low-end. It fits my needs and wallet well.
I just happen to live in the salt belt area; and the freaking potholes got worsen this year.
Also I don't see this as a problem per se. Let's face it, sooner or later you are going to have to do some kind of maintenance for the mod on your car.

Tein SS's here. Great so far. More then enough for the street. The only negative thing I've heard about them is the tendency to rust on the earlier models (This was an issue for peole who lived up north).

Other then that I've had/heard positive experineces with Tein.

So one of the collars physically broke?

Describe exactly what "broke".

If I understand his first post correctly, I believe it's the lower perch (function as a lock) broke. The upper perch is where the spring sits on, the lower perch is to secure/lock it.

In regards to the quality of TEIN, I've had the HA on my Prelude for almost 4-1/2 years, another set of HA on my Integra for 2 years and 3 months before the car was totaled by DUI kid. I've had no problem with them.

Finally got a reply from TeinUSA, pretty useless I should say. I am officially on my own to get a replacement now.
As vwong said, the lower perch broke. Imagine cutting an opening on a ring is how it is like with mine. The opening is about 1/8".
When you buy Tein (or pretty much all coilover?), you can specific spring rate as well. If you don't you get standard which is 8k f, 6k r.
Now who can get me some perches cheap : )

You might be able to find something that would work at a local hardware store. Just take the shock in with you and try...

G'luck.
