I got black stains around my oil cap on my valve cover. I'm guessing the stock oil cap is not sealing properly.
Stock oil cap is plastic so it probably flexes some and blowby results (that would be my guess).
Is this normal? Anybody else have this problem?

My stock cap does have that gasket dealie. Can you replace this without buying a whole new oil cap from the dealer?

im not 100% sure if you can replacee it. i was at napa and some guy came in asking for a oil cap gasket for a jeep cherokee, and they had it. so i beleive you can change it. just grab one off of the cars at the dealer. test drive then pop hood and snag an oil cap, replace yours with theirs.
the oil cap does have its own seal. but if you haven't ever replaced it chances are it's no longer pliant--it will be hard and tough--and may actually just look like a part of the cap itself.
