... first, this will be for a daily driven street car that will see some track time, not an all out race car... with that being said, what would be a higher-than-stock performance, streetable, budget brake setup upgrade?... btw, i drive a turbo gsr civic with abs... i tried searching the archives but i dont think i am searching the right keywords... the best i could find was upgrade the lines to stainless steel and upgrade the pads... will this be suffiicient?... if so, what do you recommend?... if not, what else can i do to upgrade my brake system?... anyways, lemme know what you think... thanks...

 

go to fastbrakes.com. they have some pretty good stuff there for a reasonable price. I'm going to buy the larger rotor upgrade kit. I think it goes up to 11.2 inch rotors. check it out, they have everything there.

 

I am doing 4 stock sized slotted rotors, SS lines, and Axxis pads.

All that was $389 shipped .

I figure it will work better then NAPA rotors, stock lines, and NAPA pads. lol

I am only running slotted rotors and ss brake lines and I could tell a hell of a difference. Maybe it was just me though

if you don't mind using 16" wheels, the wilwood front upgrade is spiffy. $600 at summit racing for 12" 2-piece slotted/drilled rotors (they are cast with the slots and cross-drilling already in the mold, meaning they aren't weakened by doing it after casting like powerslot/powerstop are), 4-piston forged dynalite calipers, pads, and all mounting hardware.

I don't mean to tell you that you are wrong, but you are wrong. You're a bright guy, but you're not speaking from experience on this one. I have "stock" 10.3"/9" Integra discs on a 1850 lb CRX with Greens, running low boost non-IC LS drivetrain, and I **** Honda rotors every 6-8000 miles. Behold:



I strongly advocate 11" front brakes for any turbo Honda. Especially those of you weighting 2600+ lbs on the same brakes. I strongly advocate Brian Hasty's fastbrakes.com unless you like spending twice to four times as much for the same Quality.

Disclaimer: I live in the mountains of western NC, every curve is a hairpin, and I love the boost too much to spare the brakes. Your mileage may vary.

No turns for my car.
4000 miles a year Max.
Don't need crazy brakes for 110-115mph trap speeds.
50-75 trips down the track a year, Max.

I still think the stock sized brakes will be fine.

I also forgot to mention I drive like a woman, and ride the brakes... Didn't mean to call you out, I probably could have phrased things a little better. Glad you didn't take offense.

summit has the wilwood 12" 4-piston upgrade for $606. last time i checked fastbrakes couldn't come anywhere close to that.

 

I'll tell you, I feel more comfortable every time I get in my car since I did the brake upgrade. I drive probably a little less "defensive" than I probably should,... plus there are a lot of stupid drivers on the roads these days, so not only is it safer, but it will keep your badass car/investment in one piece. Plus they look sooooo f#*king sick! My car weighs 2170 lbs, and with the wilwoods up front and 2000 SI rear disks in the back the car seems to stop on a dime, I have yet to do a 60-0 but I bet it is pretty quick.

But you can't use 15" OEM wheels with that wilwood kit.

And hell no do I want to get rid of my 225/50-15 DR's for 16" wheels.

Regarding the wilwood kit...

Don't the calipers have no dust seals so they need rebuilding probably a good once a year for a daily driven car..? I think this is the kit. If so, that's a big pita, although that would explain why the kit is so cheap..

i could care less if you dont agree, but on street or track slotted or drilled or both dont help performance in any which way

i have fast brakes kit up front (just itr calipers with 11" rotors and R4S pads) and fastbrakes big rear brake kit on my gsr

i would highly recomend the brake kit to anyone.

search is your friend. there are tons of threads talking about this shtuff.
