I have heard that synthetic does not condition the seals properly, like a petro based oil, don't know if this is true.

I am not too sure, I use Mobil 1 synthetic in my b16a. havent had any problems yet. You might want to ask someone that rebuilds engines. I can give you my opinion but dont know if it is right.

I use Mobil 1 SuperSyn 10W-30 when I reached 100 miles on my motor. Have no problems at all.

Synthetic oils in older engines CAN cause problems. There is a possibility that since syn oil is so thin, it will find the slightest imperfection in the seals and exploit it leading to burnt seals. It is a possibility but not a definite. Some use syn oil with no problems, but it is better for newer engines and not so much for older ones. Valvoline Max-Life is what I use on my Civic with 114,000 miles and it is great.
