I'm trying to fix this 95 EXR, but not sure wht's wrong with it....it is a automatic transmission...and when u put it in to gear...and gas it...the engine revs...but the car doesn't move....it just keeps rev'n to red line...and doesn't switch gears by itself....please help thanks

 

Check to make sure your shift cable is still attached to the transmission.

 

thanks, but i checked that...i just checked, and there's no tranny oil...but dealership was closed(so couldn't get oil yet), could it be becuz no tranny oil, thats why the tranny is not shifting gears ??

 

Yeah the tranny fluid is the problem there. automatics need fluid to work the clutches.

 

possible causes:
#1 low atf
#2 shift solenoids


Does it do this in all foward gears, or just D4?

 

it does this in all four gears...but i found out the problem, there was a leak on the top oil hose...and all the tranny fluid was leaking...
