Default Issue's with Immobilizer

Ok, my GSR is only 80 miles old and I had an issue with my immobilizer today. Its very hot and humid today in NY and the manual said not to put the key anywhere where its hot and humid. But obviously you cannot avoid that.
Anyways, I went into the car and tried to start it up. The key wouldnt turn!! It was QUITE stiff...I checked everything, made sure the clutch was pressed in all the way, even played with the locks....
I then went into the house, cooled off for a bit, walked back outside with the same issue's. So I turned the key real hard and it actually worked!!
The thing is, I dont remember seeing the immobilizer light turn on which they say its suppose to turn on for 3 sec's or so...
Is that what the immobilizer does other than not start the engine? it also disallows you to NOT turn the key? Or am I just a weakling and need to lift weights?
Other than that I noticed the lights working just fine from the dealer throughout the day when I had to get in and outta the car to go places.
This only happened once....

Are you referring to the steering-wheel lock? You just turn the wheel as you turn the key.

Otherwise, what immobilizer are you referring to?

Not the steering wheel lock. The actual ignition itself. (0 II III)
My 2001 GSR comes with an immobilizer....

Ok, so if the steering wheel locks up...and you can't turn the key...
Then how do you unlock the steering wheel so that you CAN turn the key?

Just jiggle the wheel while you turn the key

Actually I think that's what I did to get it to work last time. Thanks for the reassurance, now I know to do that first before I look like an idiot in front of my friends...
