Haha... my car doesn't smoke ! BUT.....(56K..hmmm)
Hey guys, my final exams are finally over, so I used today to fix my car !! took me total of 5 hours...
So first thing I did was take off the turbo and the downpipe !
Then I started to take off all my charge pipes... you know what I found in them??
OIL OIL OIL OIL !!!! my charge pipe was FULL of oil.. and even the intercooler....
So my first thought is my turbo is dead... so I kept going, take off all my charge pipes, then was going to install the stock header ! But well.. ******* stupid guy sold me the wrong header, so I can't put anything on today.. need to install the header tomorrow, and hopefully I won't see any smoke!
After my turbo stuff, I took my time to install my new bumper with foglights ! with my INTERCOOLER !! Pictures are below. I need to trim very very carefully to keep the stock grill... it's REALLY thin... it will break easily if I push them hard... I was pretty happy with it !
After my bumper, I finally had the time to take off my BIG winter tires, and put back on my summer tires, then I decided to lower my car a bit more.. the results?? see pictures below !
I then started to play around with the turbo, take the downpipes, oil feed line and everything off.
First thing I noticed is that when I then my turbine, it will move... man.. my english sucks, I don't know how to explain, I have taken a movie, so look at it yourself !

I also found out the vacuum source on the turbo (which is for the internal wastegate to plug in) there is oil coming out from that hose, how come??
Here are the pictures:
So here are the questions:
1. Is my turbo really bad?? would it be CHEAP to fix??
2. How do I clean my intercooler??? I think there is oil in it.
Thanks !
Cliff: Found out the turbo is bad, installed new bumper, lower down the car, but need to wait for the right header to get the car back to N/A

yup, thats the seals all right. try http://www.cheapturbo.com for a price on a rebuild. Not really sure about the intercooler though.
did you take your turbo off yet???
just take it off, and then you will know if it's the turbo or the engine...
does your car smoke when driving?? coz my car smokes ANYTIME....
can i fix the turbo by myself?? man.. few hundred bucks.. i don't know if I can afford it !

a rebuild kit does not come with bearings and if it does it needs to be sent in to have them put in and balanced.
why is there oil on your fmic? did it just leak onto it? or is there a hole?

another thing to consider is a catch can, turbo systems are notorious for sucking oil out of the engine into the charge piping.

so i have to send it to rebuilt, eh??
thanks guys
yes OUCH !
EDIT: Coz my turbo was blowing oil into my charge pipes, then got into the intercooler, so I think oil is in there....

i dont think this would work, especially if the oil is INSIDE the intercooler. the best thing you can do is turn it on end and fill up the tank with degreaser of some type. then you'll probably have to force air in there to move the degreaser along and also to dry it out in the end. for this, make some kind of adapter and use an air hose from a compressor, or use a shop vac in reverse where it blows air. the adapter could be as simple as a towel wedged in there, as long as air doesnt leak out.
good luck

Yeah, but you will run rich for a few miles afterwards from all the gas in there...
Gasoline... A Million and One Uses and Counting!
