bov question
bov = blow off valve
Releases built up pressure between the turbocharger and throttle body. When you let off the gas, closing the throttle, the remaining pressurized air can only bounce back into the turbo (possibly damaging it) or be released through the blow off valve.
Not the most technical definition, but I think you get the gist of it?

they make this noise, it goes pppsssshhhhhhh.
I think its something about pressure, then when you shift and the throttle plate closes the air needs somewhere to go out of, so it goes out the BOV.
I dont know much about turbos, just trying to help.
Edit...nevermind, you beat me 2 it

greddy kit does not come with bov?</TD></TR></TABLE>
No it does not. I guess the thinking is that with low boost (5.5psi) the possibility of damage without a bov is low.

No the Greddy kit is CARB legal. A blow off valve, from what I understand, would make it illegal.

Ah, thats right, thanks for cleaning that up. It must be a matter of low boost as well though, that you can get away without using a bov?

yes, that's why stock turbo cars dump from the BOV back into the air flow of the car...not releasing any air into the air.
Blow off valves and wastegates work hand in hand with each other....a waste gate regulates the amount of boost given off by the turbo back into the charge pipes....and the BOV dumps built up boost.
