Where the hell are you buying yours from? I got an OEM gasket for a Type R for 12 bux at the acura dealer. With hookup I got one for my GSR for 8 dollars.
30 bux I think I could've got a head gasket.

Oops, i meant gasket. thanks...
if we had to change valve covers that much, i'd consider getting another car all together

Aftermarket ones are more expensive than OEM ones for some reason. OEM does add up close to $30 if you get the spark plug grommets too.
I was thinking about using some engine degreaser diluted in water to clean the gasket and then drying it out. Clean the mating surfaces with acetone and then don't forget to use Honda Bond or RTV sealant on all four cam caps. I think this would work out well.
