You are a ******* moron.

The head studs are for the head not the valve cover, and head studs are pretty hard to break when you are torquing them. And of course he should buy a new gasket, you should never reuse one.

When you are putting the valve cover back on make sure you get it torqued to factory specifications.

How am I a moron? The guy doesn't know how hard it is to take off a valve cover so he probably doesn't know that it has to be torqued when it is replaced.

Leave HT now. You are just another e-thug who thinks he knows everything.

Don't mind the immaturity of the previous posters on here. Valvecover swap is no problem. Grab a 10mm socket and get to work. Gently pull the cover off. Take the old gasket off. If it is torn or dry rotted in any place then replace it. If not don't worry about it. People re-use valve cover gaskets all the time. If it ever does start to leak, not a big deal go buy a new one. Good luck.

and if you dont have access to a torque wrench, turn the nut until its tight and give it a lite gentle pull.

Yes you can reuse the gasket as long as it's in good condition. No, you do not need to touch the headstuds nor the headgasket.

I've reused my valve cover gasket about 3 times now, as I've been swapping them out to get them refinished, a new one isn't always necessary. You should torque it to factory specs, though I never have in the 20-30 times I've changed mine on various motors.

yeah, my gasket was nice and rubbery, so i just cleaned it up, stuck her back on.. not a thing wrong re-using it if, as previous posters have stated, its not cracked, and hard or whatever, very easy to swap out, good luck

A little oil leaking is not life or death. If the valve cover gasket is in decent shape, you can reuse it w/out issues, a little RTV or Hondabond, and you're straight.

I've honestly had my valve cover off a dozen time and have resused the original gasket every single time. It doesn't leak a drop.
