Which motor would you use?
Ok, I rarely ask "stoopid" questions like this, but figured I'd ask away to see what most of you would like to see done or up & running. I have 2 setups, both finished, and both built up from the bottom with brand new parts, and both built right.....
Original plan
95 B18B block, 87mm GE sleeves, P13 SH pistons, GSR crank, GSR rods (square 87mm bore x 87mm stroke motor)
99 B20B head (hey, it's the same as a LS head but w/newer parts) with a port & polish done to it.
Stock cams, stock B18B intake manifold.
S1 LSD tranny w/chipped LS ECU.
Or...
95 B18C block, ITR crank, ITR rods, US ITR pistons
95 B18C head, 2001 ITR cams, stock GSR valve springs & retainers, Skunk2 manifold
P28 w/Hondata S100
YS1 GSR cable tranny (no LSD)
This would be going into my daily driver Integra. This car is not a race car, nor will I be using it at the track. Just want something peppy for the LA freeways and for driving around town (my EK is for the tracks
). I'm not worried if one is more reliable than the other, so swapping the motors out isn't that difficult..... just a pain in the *** in a DA, there's no room! NO, I will not mix & match the setups above (like the heads.... P13 pistons don't have a deep enough valve relief so valve-piston slap may occur with that setup.... maybe just the tranny) but just wanted to see what you guys think would be "more fun" to see or drive around in?
Right now, I'm still leaning towards the big bore project, just to see how it's actually going to run and feel vs. a H22 hatchback. What I really need is another car, like a CRX, so I can use both setups

Damn, P13 SH pistons 87mm bore in a B series would be wack!
I would go with that project, if the sleeves you put in even handle that big of bore.
I would definitely do that and boost the **** out of it!

have you started the b18b motor up yet? let us know hos it runs! what would the compression be with the h22 pistons? also, u think that kind of setup would work in a GSR motor?
I think you should stick with the original plan and make that square motor. Everyone has seen and done the B18c1 setup and im tired of seeing it. It would be interesting to see the output of the B18b and what compression would it have with those p13 pistons?? Looking forward to you building the LS motor. That would be sik!!!

We calculated the compression of the big-bore motor to be approximately 10.9:1 comp, so it'll be totally streetable. Since I don't race my Integra, I think it'll hold up just fine, especially for daily driving but I'll eventually take it to its limits to test it out. As for the GSR motor, it's already running in another DA Integra (just broken in) but it's coming out because another motor is going into it so I know that runs good already.
Hmm.... I just might stick with the 87mm B18B just to let you guys know how it feels/compares in power & torque to a H22 setup. Just need to find time to drop it in (damn DA's are a pain in the *** with the little room that's available

We have to think about what is the intended use. He is saying that this is going to be a daily driven motor that will most likely not be raced. IMO, I think for that around town driving, daily stuff, I would like to have the extra cam lobe. I think that LS/B20 motor might be better used for another purpose. But either way, sounds like a good start in either direction...
