Does the '00-'01 ITR's have a/c shut-down during full throttle
My '98 ITR has dealer-installed a/c. Just wondering if the '00-'01 ITR's have a wide-open throttle a/c cut-off in the engine control strategy? For those who don't know what I'm talking about...most modern car companies will turn off the a/c compressor for a period of time when the driver applies the gas pedal to or near the "full-throttle" position. The engineers feel if the driver commands a WOT maneuver while having the a/c on; they want max acceleration, therefore they command the a/c off to provide max usable engine power.
Just wondering if anyone here has modified an ITR's a/c to turn off during aggressive driving? It's kind of bothersome to manually turn on & of the a/c when I decide to get on it.

I do know that the Helm's manual gives a maximum RPM for the A/C Compressor, I know that GM cars will turn off the A/C when you floor it as it gets's very warm when you are accelerating anywhere past half floored. IT also used to cut off the A/C when you were parking, everytime you turned the wheel to park the A/C would cycle off. So with the R I believe that it only shuts off past a certain RPM instead of pedal location. (I'm totally guessing) but if you floor it with the ac on full blas you will feel at some point another little kick after the vtec kick. I'm guessing that's when the A/C turns off... hmm experiment for the weekend... drive at differnt RPM's and see when it starts to get warm!
Does anybody here really use the AC anyway? I understand that down south and in the midwest it is almost necessary, but I don't use it even on 100 degree days here in the NE.

Don't have to at night, but during the day...
Yeah, I can understand in AZ. Wouldn't want to get sweat from your crack on the seats. That would be a bad thing!
Pardon my sick sense of humor this early in the AM.

it's hot and muggy down here in FL year round, but I HATE using it...
I decided to get it installed b/c there are some times when you just NEED it...

In Austin, you use it 90% of the time or buy a lot of new seats... even at night in the summer/fall... August is one of our hottest months...

I use the A/C a lot, temp is currently 96 Hazy Hot and Humid... don't care to sweat that much and it's got A/C so might as well use it, however being a FBP I've noticed my 93 Accord's A/C works much MUCH better. But yes I use it when it's above 80 night time don't need it.
Even in "VTEC", my car feels A LOT slower with A/C on.
I was thinking of putting a throttle activated microswitch below the gas pedal to turn off A/C automatically whenever I floor it.
