Buying tires today and could use a little advice
Well it turns out that 2 of my tires have nails in them so it looks like its time buy some new rubber. I am running 16x7 rims and I need 205-45-16. I checked out tirerack and their choices are limited but the only tire I can think of is the Yokahama Parada. Treadwear is good (300) and the online survey shows that people generally liked them and would buy them again. This is going to be a STREET tire. It will most likely not see any track time.
Any advice on which tire to get and any personal experiences will be greately appreciated. One thing I dont understand is that the Kumho Ecsta Supra has a higher warranty rating than the paradas...can someone explain this.

First things first, I have the Kumhos in the 205/45-16 size. I hate 'em. Absolutely hate 'em. They're nowhere as good as my Dunlops (SP8k) were. But, if you plan on just driving (not too hard) a lot, then I guess it's not a horrible choice...
Regarding the warranty rating (I'm assuming you mean the treadwear rating, right?) - I heard from a tire-shop owner that the numbers are not consistent between brands. Meaning, a 300 rating for Brand X could be a 150 for Brand Y.
Do you drive hard on the street? Perhaps you should look into the Dunlop SP9000s. They're more expensive - I believe about $50 more per tire than the Paradas. But after I'm done with my Kumhos, I'm only sticking with Dunlops. I've only had good experience with those tires.

Marmaladeboy- Yes, I will be doing "spirited" street driving with these tires, and yes I would purchase the dunlops but they are just slightly out of my price range.
Nerdish- Yea, I checked to see of they were repairable and they are not. The nails are not stuck in the tread, they are stuck in the lines between the tread thus rendering them unrepairable.
I'm going to be buying these tires in about 20 minutes, any last minute comments on the Paradas?
Thanks

Kanji - Well, let me know how much you like those Paradas. I'm pretty much decided on getting (Dunlop) SP9ks next, but that's $200 more than the Paradas...!
Best of luck!
