Default JDM Header?

I was thinking of trying a JDM header on my car. I don't know of that many places that have JDM parts or for that matter, have them for a good price. Any help would be great.

On a stock car, will there be gains in hp?
Where is a good place to buy one?
Does it fit onto the stock cat?
Should or shouldn't run a JDM heat sheild with it?
Thanks for the help!

Yes

There are a few shops on this board. I reccomend dave at R&D or Myself

Does it fit onto the stock cat?
No you will need to run a 2.5" cat like a 2.5" car sound cat, or you could modify your stock cat with a larger collector but it would be a waste since that would be a bottleneck

Should or shouldn't run a JDM heat sheild with it?
You can get away without it but it is nice in keeping it all stock looking, there is an upper and lower shield

Thanks for the help!
No problem

Andy~

Email Jason at Fstasntz@aol.com. He is local (Apex) and had the '97 ITR in the lobby this past weekend at F&F promo. Tell him I sent you.

You will see some good gains across the board. It will NOT bolt straight up to your cat. The OE cat is a major restriction in the set-up. You need to ride in Cliff's car with his current set-up. Trust me....you WILL feel the difference!

PS: JDM heatshield is stealthy! Header......what header!

Funny thing I noticed without the heatshield..the car warms up REAL fast!!

I vote go with it..I like the stealth too, especially at Smog test time!

Wondering.. because I am thinking of puttin this header on myself:

-Does anyone have a dyno of it on a fairly stock ITR?

-How does it compare to the DC JDM 4-1? Is the DC 2.5 inch piping?

-How will it compare (whp/tq) to the Spoon, JUN, and Hitech header? Dont want to hear "those will make more power", some #'s would be nice if possible.

And just wondering... how does the car "feel" different with all of these different headers (for those with experience)? Does the vtec "pop" disappear with any of them?

Thanks for the help,
Jon

8400-RPM, If you get the JDM header I reccomend porting and polishing and then sending to Jet-Hot. It's well worth the money.

I'd recommend at least the upper heatshield. I just got mine from TypeRmsm (THANKS Mike!) Heatshield keeps your hood and nearby components from heating up from heat coming off the header.

You might also want to consider wrapping the header w/ Thermo-tec or DEI exhaust wrap if you dont want to spend the money on having it coated. I took the time to do it to mine and added the jdm heat shields as well. (You can re-use the stock heat shields if you put some work into it)

I also sell parts as well, like many other people do on this board. http://www.9krpm.com

Thanks,
Brian
