goodridge brake line life expectency
When I bought my brake lines a year and a half ago, one of the issues people on this very forum were mentioning was shorter life expectency due to dirt getting between the braided sleves and teflon inserts and causeing the lines to form leaks...
Now, 18 months later I'm wondering if it's time to replace my brake lines. I have made an effort to keep them clean, but a massive brake line failure has the potential to make for a bad day.

I've been worrying about this too... Has anybody on here had any problems w/ their SS brake lines? I've got Goodridge ones too, and I guess I better clean em soon
don't sweat it. Just like any regular line - check occaisionally to see they aren't rubbing anywhere causing damage. They should last just as long as regular lines.
I've ran 7 years with my last set before selling the car. Then again, I'm not the expert

Yeah, I had a line failure at 120mph. That was super fun. It was indeed due to rubbing though, and not from fraying at the ends.
Inspect your lines often! At the very least, once before each event. I have used multiple brands, and have not had too much of a problem so far, aside from the occassional length issue.
Note that the best lines available CANNOT be DOT approved, because DOT requires that the ends be crimped or swaged. Theres an FAQ out there about stainless lines, but I'm too lazy to find it right now. I think there is a link on Audiworld if someone wants to find it.

I have had my goodridge lines for 3+ years, and no problem so far, years of racing and autox, and live on a 1.5 dusty/muddy/shitty gravel road.. Will be replacing them after this year...

What sort of rubbing are we talking about? Like rubbing if you zip-tie the lines to the spindles or something?
Also would it be possible to cover the lines in a clear vinyl tube or something to keep dirt out of it?
