This is my first post on here and I'm having a little trouble with my si brake upgrade on my 97dx hatch.

Anyway I did the rear disk conversion 2 days ago, bled the brakes and everything felt great. This is with the stock MC and PV by the way. So I go to put on the SI front brakes with the sway bar and all that, bled the brakes again, and I put on the SI MC but obviouly that didn't work on my booster.

My brakes feel like crap now and I think it's because I need the SI booster, I just wanted to ask up here first to make sure. So now I still have the stock PV, MC, and booster, because the PV alone didn't make any difference. It's not unbearable but the extra pedal effort sucks. Should I put the booster on?

Are you sure that you bled the brakes correctly the second time? Any air in the lines will make the pedal really soft.

I'm inclined to agree with you though. I think that you need the SI mc/booster as well. The SI rears take more fluid than the old drum setup and the front calipers are significantly larger than the stock calipers and take more fluid as well. This is most likely where the extra pedal effort is coming into play. The prop valve alone won't fix this as it just controls brake bias. Get the booster and mc and you should be fine.

 

swap out your dx master cylinder and brake booster for the si mc and bb. this will drastically effect your pedal feel, making it stiffer, more responsive, and it will push a lot more brake fluid. when i did my gsr brake conversion on my 97 hatch, i swapped my mc and bb out with a itr mc and bb. changing your pv is not necessary. you might want to use some dot 4 brake fluid too

 

yo cre...how much of a difference the the gsr brake swap provide in stoping power?
