Hail damage
Tonite from coming back from helping my friend get his car running I ran into a hail storm. I didnt think there was much damage but my hood has tons of dents along with both my fenders. Im pretty sure my roof has dents too. Im so mad now I dont want to even go out and dry my car off to see. Does anyone know what the insurance company will probably do?
It should be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
But, nothing you can really do, unless it's a major damage and you plan to replace the hood & fenders.
Last time I was in a hail storm (out in South Dakota), I started to drive away from the hail storm as fast as I could. It took me 30 minutes to get away & took me 3 hour detour to get to my destination. At least my car didn't look like a golfball.

That happend my old car, 97 hx. Hail was the size of golf *****, after it happened the ground was literally covered in hail to about an inch. Insurance man estimated 300 dings on the roof, 100 on the trunk, tons on the hood, and quite a few on every fender....
I got a new hood, and had paintless dent removal done to the rest of the car...looked spotless afterward. There was only one ding left when they were done(on pillar right above the antenna)....
The paintless dent removal would have cost $1200++(I got a hookup for $600).
That is what I would probably recommend because to replace the body panels damaged takes alot of cutting and welding, I didn't want to put my baby thru all that.
Oh, I got a $4100 dollar check from my ins company..it was that bad.

Well, it was a different car.
Not the crunched one.

sorry to hear about the hail damage, report it to the ins co and see what they say...
Maybe a ballpoint hammer in a soft rag would further the cause for mo money?

I saw the aftermath of the storm on my way back into town. I had left my windows open and the hail had ripped up all the screens up on the west side of my apartment. Not to mention there were still piles of hail frozen in clumps on the ground. Sorry to hear about your car. The fenders, roof may be fixable by a paintless dent removal shop. The hood you might have to replace. This exact same thing happened to a friend's GTi VR6 last summer. He only had to replace his hood (too many dents over the crossmembers). How do your doors, decklid and quarters look? Once again... sorry. Your insurance will cover it though.
Paintless dent removal will fix that right up and your insurance should cover the cost.
When I had PDR being done to my car, the guy doing it related on how they "chase " hail storms to make money. From the results I've seen done to my car, a good PDR man should be able to fix your car back to like new condition.
good luck dealing w/ your insurance co.

I saw those storms coming towards Columbus so I got the F out and headed back to Athens (i.e. no hail). #583 still looks fresh and clean
! My buddy decided to just stay the night in Columbus and he ended up getting dents on the hood and roof. He didn't even drive in it!
Insurance should help you out.....assuming you're not a "1-800- SAFE-AUTO" guy.

Southern IN must get off pretty lucky b/c we get warnings all the time with the passing storm systems. The odd thing is that we get the same storm systems that you guys get for the most part, but I have yet to see any hail larger than the size of a pen's ballpoint.
Hope it doesn't cause you too much grief getting it ironed out.
