H22a into Accord legal issues
ok here's the deal, i have a 97 SE and i would like to put a H22a in it someday. but i was wondering about legal issues. i hear alot of people doing engine swaps but no one ever says anything about state inspections etc...like do you need to report it to the insurance company so they'll cover it incase of an accident. it's my daily driver so i would like it to be 100% legal, i dunno about you guys but i'm expecting some negative feed back from law enforcement due to FF.
you need to read the laws for your state. If you were in cali, the engine would have to be 1997 or newer....u should pass state inspections (cali doesn't have those) if you have all the emissions stuff....
depending on your insurance company, you might want to report it...but then you'll have higher insurance rates. some companies, if you can prove to them that it was a part of the car, they will replace/fix it....but others might not since it wasn't reported....usually major mods aren't reported since the insurance companies will tag the car as a race car
