I am a newby when it comes to the Prelude. I am thinking of checking out a either a 91 or 92 prelude that my cousin has found me for sale. It is missing the engine and thats it. The interior is in excellent shape and so is that exterior...only 2 small scratches on the whole thing. I was wondering what kind of engine I should buy to put into it that will get me started.....I want something that will help me get off the line fast with good acceleration and is quick....but who doesn't want that right. Also can I buy an engine with turbo ? anything would be appreciative thanx.
how much are you getting it for? i'd get the h22, its a nice VTEC engine to start out with and it has more aftermarket support than the h23. buying an already turbo'd h22 prolly wouldnt be the best choice, i would rebuild it for a turbo. good luck. this is based on the 92 lude
If it is the 4th Gen Lude (92-96) and you have some extra cash laying around...I would get an H22 swap. But if $$ is an issue....the H23 motor is not a slouch. The only reason why i am swapping mine out is because it has 157K miles on it and the clutch is bad...I THINK. I figure getting a newer engine will HOPEFULLY cut down on the long term expenses of this car.
I am TOTALLY impressed with the H23 motor. I always felt honda engines were overrated..but this engine surprised me.
