Just took this out of my GS-R's #1. I guess this would account for that low compression reading (150psi) in that cylinder. Sad thing is, I raced on this most of last year...not sure how it stayed together.

Hopefully the car will have more power now

nah, lots of carbon build up (no more than expected for 125,000 miles) but other than that the piston looked pretty normal.

LOL...Haha, it's the new secret mod to get more lowend torque. Shorten the rods!

Damn, you're definetely lucky the thing didnt snap and launched itself through the block...

So what caused the rod to bend? Overrev? Bad rod? @ least the piston doesn't look all scuffed up.

Woah...I guess you made it down to the shop? That's worse then I was imagining when you told me about it. Good thing you found it before it did something worse.

My guess is Hydrolock. We had a rod like that in a 94 GSR block, and it was caused by hydrolock. We also broke ring lands on 2 pistons, and cracked the cylinder head in 1 combustion chamber.

Holy $hit!!

I'm glad we did the compression check.

You told me it was bad, I didn't expect it to be that bad.

later,

holy crap, you're lucky that it held together! did your engine run rough or seem out of balance with excessive vibration?

I'm not really sure, but I think it was caused by a minor hydrolock in June or July last year. The car is stock except for some bolt-ons so that's the only thing I can think of that would have caused it. At the time I just figured my electronics had gotten wet. The car didn't seem to run rough or anything, but it was a down on power a bit.

Oh well, it will be all better soon..

Good find. Glad to see you only need to spend a small amount of money instead of the whole motor.

You would think the motor would have more power now. Tell us how it goes.

Good luck

Awww... I was hoping you guys would run the P-Burg Pro like that... and give my poor-little-under-powered car a chance.

Interesting thought I had... when we swapped cars last fall... yours didn't feel any different then mine (seat of the pants wise). Not like my *** is the most accurate dyno arround... Then again... that was like 6 months ago or so and I have trouble remembering 6 days ago.

Yeah, I can't really explain that either...maybe we'll see in Petersburg...there is a small chance we'll line up together at some point. If it happens we can see who gets to the turn first. Of course, you'll have to keep in mind that I'm a novice
