trouble with pulling out a tranny
i am pulling a tranny on a 92 accord dx to do the clutch i pulled out all the bolts holding the tranny to the engine disconnected the rear mount the top tranny mount and still it wont disconect from the engine ... i have done many trans jobs in my life but this one fustrated me so i just quit for the day .... anyone got any ideas on what i may have missed?? or is this one just being a bitch ??? thanks in advance for any advice you can give me
It took me 3 days to wiggle it out on my 93 (had to do it 2 times) then the guy at the shop that does honda's said that it's easier to just pull the engine with the tranny than to take the trany out by it self. It can be done just a bitch to do. you have to take the whole right side apart to do it and make sure the trany is in reverse or the gear arm thingy will not get past the frame pice and watch out for your wires. But ya it's a bitch to do.(also never buy POWERQuilty(sp) power toqurce(sp) cluch they suck had 3 bad ones in arow)
hope that helps.
hope that helps.
i just helped another honda-tech member do this yesterday. we decided it would be easier to pull the whole engine out rather than "wiggle" the tranny off. it took us about 3 hrs to pull the motor, but we had some minor complications, i.e. broke *** engine hoist.
so is this just a accord thing that the tranny is so hard to wiggle out or is this a common thing?? i have pulled many many civic trannys and tons of domestic trannys but never encountered this ..... thanks for the help everyone
