Default Automatic transmission durability

Is there anything that can be done to ensure that the GS auto can survive with say a turbo?

Are there different stall converters available for this transmission?

Any input on the automatic tranny and longevity would be appreciated.

Thanx.

A great website to visit is levelten.com - basically, you can replace your torque converter with one that's matched with your torque curve - very useful, especially with a turbo (higher stall speed allows the turbo to spool and create boost). There are other kits offered by level 10 - I believe they have one that will beef up your existing tranny so that it (+ the new torque converter) will support 500hp and 400 torque. Lastly, I believe they sell a complete transmission. Check out the site for mroe accurate info HTH

After reading the following article, I went ahead and ordered a tranny cooler from Summitracing. http://www.howstuffworks.com/framed....qa/ques123.htm

I had heard that the Honda auto's were very weak and no good for any type of racing. I found this to be BS. I had an autotranny in my car before and I autoxed it for three years. Even took our local DSP class with it. Zero problems, and I was trying to break it so i could swap in a 5-spd. I put almost a 100G on that tranny, and all of it was leadfoot driving.

I also know of a few others that have installed turbos on autotrannies with good luck. I dont recall if they swapped out the converters or not. HTH
