Default autometer air/fuel gauge

How many of you guys have had these things crap out on you? Mine is experiencing some weirdness and it's not streaming back and forth but rather, it lights up (from time to time) on the red and then each one will subsequently light up but the one before it doesn't turn off so in the end, virtually all of them are lit up. Anyway, a buddy of mine said that these crap out all the time and he is on his 3rd or 4th and his friend has gone through about 6 of them. Any input?

is it me or is that way too many times before deciding its a bad product? sounds more like user error or something..

whats the point of the A/F ratio gauge? Its just a disco ball. Has no real accurate function at all. If you want a real A/F reading, get a wideband o2 sensor.

that is really true what he just said I got a autometer and I know I got it because it looks fancy but the readings on it will probably never be accurate because the only true way is what a wide band o2 sensor and thoose setups are not to cheap from what I hear.

They are ok for a safety gauge. I picked up a Tech Edge wideband O2 gauge, it's alot more accurate, and great for tuning on the fly.

since so many people buy the autometer for looks....i wonder if it would be possible to utilize the narrow band output of the techedge and hook it up to an autometer display, instead of buying the techedge display unit. just a thought.

found, the problem guys!! It was the wire that goes to the oxygen sensor reading. It had disconnected and was grounding itself out. Anyway, plugged it back up to the right wire and good as new!!

Yuck... I got a bunch of these things from old projects and I am selling em all.

I tried the voltage mod but the thing is just a joke to read accurately.

Amen, its purely a safety guage... if it EVER reads red while in boost/high rpms STOP YOUR CAR and don't do that again until you fix your fuel setup..... thats all its good for

I also pimp the techedge wideband, best gauge ANY turbo honda can get hands down

Exactly, that is basically all I use mine for. It will most likely always read rich during WOT but it WILL read lean, and then you know you are in trouble. Just for that sake ill keep it around since I already have it.
