Default what turbo would you h-ter's recomend for 600whp???

just as the topic says ...
could you go with a t3/60-1 w/.63 ar?

or could you go with a t4/60-1 w/.58 ar?(the ar number was stamped on the turbine housing i was viewing)

or something bigger?

hahaha... i am pretty sure a turbo that size will get you as much hp as you want. but i am talking about an occasional sreet car that sees a lot of time at the drag strip running in the turbo class on a very competitive east coast and still on some what of a budget.

you will have a hard time making 600whp w/ a 60-1. especially w/ a small ar exhaust. My friend Mike from Redline/TyWash racing is running a T4 .81 AR/60-1 and it maxed out @ 580whp on his race car. Go w/ a T61 if u really want 600whp. Or if u want a T3/T4 variety give the SC61 a shot or maybe the SC that motormatrix is gonna run.

so any 60-1 series turbo will be hard to make big power out of? as far as the compressor maps go will any of the turbos i listed even be in efficincy range at that kind of horsepower? you guys are noting the precision line of turbos ... thats where i get a little confused. what would be the propper classifacation of a garrett turbo in the precision line with the sc61 or sc63 name? would those be similar to t4 or t3 60-1's?

any of the precision SC60,51,52,53, or 54 model turbos come w/ a 60-1 compressor wheel. The difference in all those models is the exhaust side, which ultimatly determines how much power they can make. The precision SC61 is the equivalent to a garret GT35R on the compressor(gt 40 wheel). Its not ball-bearing like the GT35R nor does it use GT technology on the exhaust side. I am not sure what the SC63 is that motormatrix is using but I know it is a step up from the SC61. The PB70 is another option for big big power, it uses the same basic technology as the SC61 but is even larger.

I think the 60-1 could still be competitive though, especially in the turbo street class. My friend went 10.1 this weekend on 580wheel w/ the 60-1 in his CRX, you have to put the power to the ground before u can be competitive.

Im sure i can make 600hp on my turbo (Turbonetics T61 bb) if i really pushed the envelope on my setup. 9psiHybrid on this board has made over 580 HP on his setup, which is like a replica of mine, and im sure theres more in his setup, as is mine...

the question is ... why would you not want 600hp?

around my area the street turbo class runs 9's!! so in order to try and be successful on the east coast you need mucho hp!!

well for one thing..if you plan on driving on the street..it will be hard to hook up..yes yes i know motormatrix etc..and you can turn down the boost etc.
and well..600 is a lot.
if you are serious..cool but lots of people post about it and are just basically fantasizing.
goodluck

If you plan on running this setup on the street any (if you're human, you most likely will ), I would go with a larger area ratio. You'll just be spinning tires through your gears with a .58. Plus you won't reach all of the turbo's potential on the top end at the track in race trim.

That's just my theory though. Anyone want to add?

What car is this setup going to be in?

i don't think i am missing the point entirely. the need for big power is always there when attempting to run low numbers, the equation will always be the same whether ou are running FWD, AWD, or RWD. you NEED big power, but you also need to be able to put the power to the ground and have a driver capable of controlling the power. i have been driving in my "mild" turbo setup for quite a while and i may not have had the best success at the track i was becoming a very decent driver in many other respects. in my case right now i am just finishing up the power variable int the equation and then i will be in need of traction and most of all EXPERIENCE!

we will see how the year unfolds ... but i have been listening!

WAIT A MINUTE, did he just say 600 whp and budget in one sentence, cuz the two of them just don't mix... unless you plan on puttin a supra motor in there or something
