Throttle Body Questions?
I am considering getting a type R throttle body for my gsr. My current set up is a gsr throttle body on my skunk2 manifold. My tuner said i would see gains if i upgraded my throttle body and said mine was too restrictive. I always thought that going bigger in throttle body size meant better throttle response and not gaining any power?
The gsr throttle body is only 2mm smaller than the ITR one, can 2mm really make that much of a difference? The opening on the skunk2 manifold is 62mm (same as type R throttle body). So right now, i've got a 3 inch aem cai connected to my 60mm throttle body, back into a 62mm intake manifold. Will that disrupt airflow considerbly?

Well, a TB's job is to disrupt airflow, sort of.
The differences in TB and IM diameter aren't something I'd worry about. I doubt it has as much effect on airflow as the throttle plate. As for power, I've never seen a TB make more power on an NA B-series, but every motor is different.

Oh, so the way its set up right now is ok? I always thought the skunk2 manifold had a 62mm opening? Another question i had is about the throttle bodies that have a tapered design. Take spoon for example, they have a 70mm opening tapered down to 62mm. Whats the point in doing that? And if having a larger opening than the throttle body is ideal, why do some shops offer "port-matching" services for the throttle body and intake manifold? oh yeah, thanks for the help btw.

stock TBs are tapered as well.
GSR should be 64-60 or 62-58 (i really needto get around to measuring mine)
itr is 66-62

I just put an ITR TB on my GSR with a Skunk2 IM last week. While i was at it, I also put a Hondata IM gasket on. The top end feels stronger , but i won't know for sure until i go to the track.
