Anybody ever change their rear main crank seal while you had the transmission off? I will be changing my clutch and flywheel this weekend and I heard that it would be a good idea to change the rear main seal while I'm in there. My car and engine have 134K miles on them right now (just now changing the orig. clutch). How difficult is it to change it?
mine was leaking when I did my synchros and clutch.. I didn't do the seal replacement though, so I couldn't rate it difficulty wise..
i hadn't heard this was a recommended thing to do, but at 134k miles, it prolly wouldn't hurt.. is yours leaking?

I don't know.... my car does not leak or burn any detectable amounts of oil over 3K miles (oil is always at the same level on the dipstick throughout the entire 3K mile interval).
It's just one of those while you're in there kinda things, so I was wondering on the difficulty.
