Default Shocks and Winter

Im from canada and for the people that live up hear, you know it can get cold....
I was planning to buy some Koni reds next week but im worried about whether i can keep my koni's on during the winter or if its a real bad idea?

someone told me that if i keep them over the winter htey might blow..is that true or just a myth?!
thanks
Jon
