Default Screw me for being a n00b!!!

Hehe...now that I have your attention:

Why don't I see anything about JRSC-ed ITR's? Before you lay into me, I did a search both in the ITR forum and the "Forced Induction Forum," and did not see much if anything about blown C5's.

Don't get me wrong...the engine is a work of art, and while it would be more than enough for someone swapping, I am left wanting more. Is greed for more power an uncommon trait?

Is N/A the better way to go? How much in JUN parts, electronics, etc. can you get for the price of a JRSC? Is the JRSC not good bang for the buck? Sorry for so many ?'s, but I am nearing the 50k warranty and wanna tweak! (my car, not nipples...although that'd be cool too!)

There is never a "better way" to go. It all boils down to what you want out of your car. Granted anything can be built to go fast provided you have the proper funds to do so.

The word "Fast" is so relative. It all depends on you.

There are numerous ITR owners on here that have boosted their ITRs and have had much success. There are alot of dyno's floating around and most of the "blown" ITR guys are very helpful and kind. If you have any questions this is the place to be. Now to get better forced induction related questions, please use the forced induction forum. Nothing is ever ITR specific in the forced induction forum.

Welcome to the board and enjoy your stay.

If you are looking for ultimate straight line speed the ITR is the wrong place to start.

I think they are very capable cars in stock form and dont require alot of tweaking to go pretty damn fast on a track. But they wont burn down the drag strip.

Cheap 1st gen eclipse GSX + $2500 = gut wrenching holeshots and 12 second passes

The cost of getting into blowers is high and you don't get a HUGE increase in power with them. RBoosted has got great numbers out of his setup - but it wasn't cheap.

It is usually cheaper to go turbo - and there are more turbo choices available that make much more power than a SC.

The thermal efficiency of Eaton (screw) type i.e. JR is not that great for a high(er) compression motor like the B18C5. It heats up the intake charge too much and you get detonation problems. These can be alleviated with water mist injection - but at added expense too.

Centrifugal superchargers (Vortech) have not been mass developed for the Type R.
Is there one??

N/A sticks with the basic nature of the Type R - but it is expensive to wring more power out of a motor that is making well over 100 hp/liter.

1) Take the banner off the back of your car
2) leave it stock and learn more first before modifying your car

Your car looks great how it is. Leave that way and research, research, research!!

Dammit Mark you no-keeping-a-car-running-on-the-way-to-P1 bunghole! I happen to have a strong vested interest in the banner across my window (a website my friends and I started)...have you been talking to my fiance??? She wants me to take it off too (the banner ). Seriously though I have thought about removing it b/c it's too big, and I doubt it has generated any binness for my boyz and I.

Getting back to my original question...
1) I am not going to do anything in the near future cause I'm mo-broke than Mark's moms after a crack-run!
2) I am not looking for a drag car, and I know it was built for handling...my license plate even reflects this fact!
3) I also understand Honda engines were designed to rock N/A. Honestly I'd rather keep it that way, but add a lil more power. Please realize I said the engine "was a work of art from the factory."
4) I have thought about keeping the car bone stock and saving my money to do a Sil-80, which would be a little more drag-inclined (and hopefully drift-worthy!) Sorry Honda fans...forced induction intrigues me!!!

All things being equal, including weight...would 20-35 more bhp be a bad thing? If I were able to get it by changing cams, engine management, etc. (thus keeping the weight the same), why would that be detrimental, other than to my wallet?

Am I a complete dumbass for wanting more power?!?! Mark, are you advising me thus because of your failed attempts at power gains?

I was kinda wonderin what you were calling me! Thanks for the pix...the real question is how does your GS-R drive? Any issues with A/C, power, pulleys/belts, etc.?

I am starting to think a JRSC may not be the best idea...

Did I scare Mark off by insulting him? I sure hope he comes back...

set it up right, and maintain it properly, and you'll have no problems.. I seriously recommend the water injection system if you buy a jrsc though.. it'll help out a lot.. i've talked to quite a few people who have/had jrsc's on their Rs.. the majority had no problems whatsoever..

OK, well assuming no serious reliability issues and a reasonable amount of cash on hand, why would someone not put a JRSC on? (If they didn't mind boosting?)

Where is the water injected exactly? Would an intercooler eliminate the need for water injection, or is it supplemental?

Also, it is frowned upon, or "unpopular" to supercharge a R? If it is unpopular, is it because people prefer to keep it N/A? Basically, is there a stigma surrounding boosting, and why?
