Check Engine Light???
Yesterday I was on a 3 and 1/2 hr trip and my check engine light came on for the first time. So I pulled over and checked the engine. It wasn't running bad, leaking anything, or any other weird noises like that. I checked the oil and it was a little low but not past the lower dot on the dipstick. Is this what made the light come on?
I couldn't check the ecu light b/c the ecu is upside down. It drove the same, and if I turned the car off and back on it would go away for roughly 30 min.
I stopped at a gas station dumped a quart of oil in it, but that didn't help. I think that's why it came on, but the ecu was never reset, so I unplugged the ecu's fuse and waited about 5 min. and put it back in and it hasn't come on yet.
I hope that's why the light came on. I guess the highway rpm @ about 5k the whole way burned the oil going in and out of vtec did it. Anyone else have that happen before???

As long as the oil wasn't dangerously low, then it wouldn't cause a check engine light. First step is to figure out what the code is... could be 02 sensors, coolant temp sensor, VTEC solenoid, who knows. Figure out what the code is first. I can almost guarantee that the light wasn't caused by eating a bit of oil.
Crap. I'll check and see if the ecu is blinking something this afternoon. It might have of been lower than it should. This is the first check engine light happening ever with this motor.
I would bet that it is the O2 sensor.
It will either be flashing one or two.
Pull the hazard fuse (10 am in the box on top of the Passenger side strut tower). Keep it out for about 10 seconds.
If it comes back, you might need to change the sensor(s)
