The head...
So here we have it, the car is back in the shop... the little screw that came out of the distributor shaft has officially fried the bearing on the distributor housing. I was hoping that it did not do any damage, but it appears that it did in fact do quite a bit.
Luckily for me, the fella that took it apart discovered that it was not necessary to order an entirely new housing for 500cdn, but he could replace the bearing itself for 30 bucks.
This is good. What Acura doesn't tell you is that these particular bearings are prone to failure, so they manage to make a few bucks on the poor bugger that comes in and is forced to buy a housing he doesn't need.
Hmmm.
Same head, different question:
When the belt broke and chaos ensued, one of the intake valves tagged the inside of one of the combustion chambers. Unfortunately, they had to mill the head 5 thou to correct the problem. So my math says that the entire works, with Spoon 2 layer headgasket brings me 29-30 thou closer to the crank, or, 3 degrees.
How far can I go with the Toda spec b's and JDM ITR pistons before contact becomes an issue? Prior to all this happeneing, I would have been comfortable with +/- 5 degrees, but am really unsure.
Any input on this will be greatly appreciated.

with 12mm lift and the JDM piston dome, you can get away with 15 thous of millign and the thinner gasket.
imagine you had a milled head with CTR pistons, you'd **** your pants, huh ? IOW its no big deal, dont worry.

Steve,
I would have, but my man was to quick to put the head back on, so I missed my oppurtunity to play with my clay.
vtec,
Fair enough, but I am unsure as to how to work out my maximum degree of play. Also, doesn't the valve geometry change when you mill the head?
