Default Installing speakers with large depth?

I'm interested in getting some component speakers for my Integra, but the depth requirements for most speakers are too deep for the door to accomodate. I've read about constructing spacers, but I'm not knowledgeable on properly constructing them.

What's the largest speaker I can install into the doors without using spacers? Also, any steps on how to construct spacers would be great.

You can put just about any speaker you want in your doors. I've got oversized 6 1/2's in there now and I might try 8's this summer. All you need are spacers. Just get the cutout diameter for the speaker (For 6 1/2's it's usually 5 and change), and cut a circle in a 3/4" piece of MDF. After that hole is cut, measure about 1/2" out from, that and cut another circle, so that you end up with something that looks like a ring. Find a way to mount this to your door, mount the speaker to that, and your set.

p.s. There are very few speakers that will fit our cars without modification. If looking for components, JL has a set that fits without modification, and Crutchfield also has a couple of sets of coaxials that drop right in.

VR600-CSi

p.s. Seal the gap between your spacers and your door also. I used silicone.

I don't recommed using baffles/mounting rings on top of the factory speaker holder. I tried this, and my speakers hit the inside of the door panel at high volumes.
