You can get a brand new ninja 250r for that price, but id get a used ninja 250 and use the rest for safety stuff, helmet, good gloves, and some others depending on what exactly you are going to be using the bike for.

you can also use some of the money to take a safety course or a riding course.

I got my zx6r for less than that. An ex500 would be under $2k which would leave you money for gear, gas and insurance

ladies & gentlemen, I am proud to present this year's Darwin Award to...

edit:
actually, I'm too nice. Take a look at the Aprilia RS50, RS125, or RS250... afaik, the RS50 is street legal here in the states. I've heard stories of RS250's registered in California, but your mileage may vary.

why does he need to reconsider buying a bike if he only wants it for looks....that just means he is going to take care of it more...so he probably wont speed alot..wont be hard on it.....wont try to stunt it. if you want a show bike...buy something wrecked and really messed up for like $500 and take the rest of the money and do what you want to do to make it look nice.

Nate refer to my post in your insurance thread.

Also I have to say that just because he is getting his first bike doesn't mean he is going to crash. My first bike was a 1999 R6 and I had it for 3 years and put 11k on it and never crashed/dropped/flipped etc.

You're an exception to the rule, that's all.

You say you like R6's, you can pick one up for that price. It won't be mint but you can make it nice. I just got a 94 900 RR for what you want to spend. That's not even a deal either. And as far as what you get for your first bike get what you want, BUT respect the power if you do go big. My first bike was a 94 900 RR and i never even had a close call.

And faster, and ALOT more dangerous. (also, it seems like you are drunk, spell ckeck )
You cant just wake up in the morning and ride away in a t-shirt and short pants. thats the easy way to get killed. there is safety involved, ALOT more than a car is.

So are you just gonna be staring at it? cause i hope not. If you are going to ride it, then there are things to think about. And a big *** bike isnt the thing you would want as a starter. YOU WILL DROP IT one way or another, your fault or someone elses fault. And your nice "ride" will be in pieces at that time. Why do you think insurance is higher for bigger bikes? obviously because its alot more dangerous.

im done ranting. if you decide to buy a bike, be careful and always wear safety gear.
