do d16y7 & y8 oil pans interchange?
I have a 96 cx with a d16y7 and bought a greddy kit from a guy that included a tapped oil pan from a d16y8. I was looking through the service manual I just got and noticed the y7 and y8 have different pans. (Surprisingly, the y7 has a higher capacity pan.)
Can I use the tapped y8 pan on the y7, and what will I have to do to use it? I'd like to use the y8 I have if I could, but if I must tap the y7, I guess I can. Thanks for any input.

I think the Y8 pan is deeper, as well. I know for sure that Honda increased the capacity between the Z6 and Y8 pans, wich is why the stock Z6 exhaust manifold I'm running temporarily(turbo is getting rebuilt, along with some other issues) rubs my oil pan.
this is an old thread...I was looking through some of my old posts, and thought I'd give an update. The Y8 pan does fit a Y7. Also, the Y7 is actually higher capacity than the Y8, which I thought was odd.

i can also vouch for it fitting. i bought my greddy kit from a guy with a y7 and it fit perfectly onto my y8. no leaks whatsoever.
