Default Walbro 255 fuel pump making scraping noise

My fuel pump is making a kind of subtle scraping noise after driving a while (45 min or so) and the normal whine gets alot louder. Then intermitant louder scrapeing noise every few seconds after longer driving (hour + 15 min).

the car is 99 Si with turbo.

Im going to put stock FP back in tomorrow to narrow down the prob. for sure.

Any one got any ideas or heard of this before?

Does it do it when the tank gets half empty and lower? Mine does too, I've concluded it's something gay.

on a more serious note, i think it's just the echoing in the empty tank. They all do it, no worries.

I had the exact same problem as you a month or so ago (I think). This happened at idle. I could put my hand on the back seat and feel this grinding. For me, it turned out to be the AEM FPR. It was really strange because when I popped the hood, this noise wasn't noticeable, but could be felt when I touched the fuel hose before the FPR, and definitely heard inside the car. I was using the largest (gold) orifice. Since I switched to the medium (silver), I haven't had this problem. I think the AEM FPR diaphragm fluttering was the problem and causing the metal on the diaphragm and the orifice to slap together creating this noise. It sounded an awful lot like the fuel pump was the problem, just like you said, but for me this went away with the FPR adjustment.

whats up my fuel pump made a noise like that a year ago or so, it happened because the filter on the pump actually broke loose and i used a zipy tie to secure it back onto the pump, so the little plastic neck was not actuall on the filter anymore,,, got a new filter on the pump and it went away, but then again too i did that right before i got a new holley fpr, so it could have been either one
