Default leaking cats?

I heard of some guy who was slightly disconnecting his cat from header connection to releive some backpressure. WOuld this actually do anything as far as gains? I know this will make it louder for sure though.

A friend of mine dynoed his car with custom ram air through the highbeam, a JDM Honda 4-1, test pipe, and stock exhaust... Taking off the muffler produced 1 whp, and removal of the b-pipe was worth 1 more whp...so running the car straight out of the test pipe produced 2 whp, and a whole lot of noise!! When VTEC hits, it sounds like the car is being powered by a jet engine .
