Note: Normally I would just go about installing it without posting, but the last time I didn't ask, I broke a plastic piece in my interior. It seems that I am much more careless about doing the little interior stuff and end up fugging it up. All the harder stuff I do carefully and take my time so it ends up fine.
1) Do I need to remove the rear bracket that held in the old arm rest? There are two metal plates that are bolted by 10mm bolts into the center column near the back of the arm rest. The two metal plates are what hold the two rear screws into the stock arm rest.
2) If I do need to remove them, how do I do so without ripping out the carpet?
3) I assume that I bolt the new bracket in the same place as the old one, but I need to know which way it faces.
Pics would be great. I really feel like an idiot posting this. It's time to get rid of the chunky arm rest because it gets in my way.
TIA everyone.
<-----I feel so stupid, but I would feel even more stupid if I fugged something up.

good stuff dennis.
2. try to bend the bracket alittle. You should be able to slip it out of the carpet without ripping it.
