I see the light now!
I can't believe I've had it wrong for so long. I just got my new car, and now I see the light. Yes, I am now the proud owner of a '93 Jeep Grand Cherokee. No more riding along with my *** a mere few inches off the ground. No more of that pesky shifting crap. No more steering wheel that makes me feel every bump and imperfection in the road, or the road at all for that matter. I no longer have to worry about things like merges, because now I have physics on my side. Yes, now that I've looked down at the road from above, there is just no going back. Today is a great day my friends, I have turned a page in my automotive life. I AM A SPORT-UTE DRIVER! Now that I've tasted this kind of 'Murican power, no more wimpy Honda 4s will do!

Even those who make light of towing are jealous of this moment...
Get to the track.
Undo car tie-downs.
Pull car off trailer.
Smile, and make fun of those who are changing brake rotors on a Friday night, in the rain, in the paddock, with a flashlight and an adjustable wrench.
"Driven to the track?" Screw that.

I always thought those were a little too....little to be good for towing.
I've always liked them tho, is it a strugle towing up hills? Stable at highway speeds?
Dave-
who has never towed anythign in his life, only read about it.

Won't it kinda suck having to drive it to work every day?
I have been happy to have driven one of 5 or 6 1st gen. CRXs to work, for the last 9 years (and 3 different Hondas before that).
My favorite thing about my tow vehicle is that I *don't* have to drive it every day!

I test drove a Dodge 2,500 quad cab, 4x2, HO Cummins Diesel (300hp & 500+ tq) last night.
Enough grunt to rotate the earth.
Thinking about towing the R mule next year, trailer & car will weigh under 5,500, this thing will tow 13,800! Can you say "overkill"?

Never thought I'd own an SUV either. Madame Geezer wondered why we needed another vehicle that would only be used to tow a racecar. Well, since I got the Tahoe, I've towed the car one time, but I've also:
1. Driven us all over in the snow. The only vehicle that could get out of our cul-de-sac (ground clearance rules).
2. Picked up new kitchen counter tops, sink, ducting, and range hood.
3. Hauled a few hunderd lbs of junk to the dump, opening up space for a new flower garden.
4. Various other fetch & carry trips that a sedan just can't handle.
We're liking the Tahoe a lot better. Now if I can just get Madame Geezer to drive it, maybe she'll decide that we can spend some of "our" money on it, instead of all "mine".

Driving a big truck to work only sucks in regards to fuel consumption. It rocks in rush hour traffic. Add the fact that I can get around on those rare snowy days, haul stuff to the junk yard without renting a UHaul, and chuck all my dirty mountain bike crap (bike, clothes, etc) in the back instead of dirtying up my back seat, and the truck seems like the best thing since sliced bread.

Look down on the list in my signature. Now the racecar obviously isn't a daily driver. No way I would park the Vette at work every day, or even at my apartment for that matter. The Z on the other hand....
I'll drive the Z when the weather is nice, the Jeep when it isn't.
Come on, you guys know me better than that - you really think I would drive an automatic, and a Sport-Ute at that, every day?!?

Never mind the fact that most trucks and SUV's have the crash worthiness of a limp noodle and have horrid occupant crash safety ratings.
With that said, SPiFF is counting down to SUV ownership and towing!
