My guess would be if that light is on then there is something wrong with your power steering system and you should find out what it is.

I don't know if a dealership has to do that or what.

Like suzukablue said, there's a good chance that maybe a wire or an electrical component failed on ya.

I'm not really sure how to go about this but if you haven't checked s2ki.com then I suggest you check out the forums there, they have a lot of useful info.

EPS fuse? Is that the box under the driver side fender?

See if the control unit is shorted. The box by the battery.

As long as the car has driven fine I would reset the ECU and see if it comes back on.

sigh...the eps controller isn't apart of the ECU. Sometimes the EPS will disable itself if you don't drive around and give steering input. It will come back on if this is the case from just driving it for 5 minutes.

You can overheat the EPS to by sitting still and turning the wheel back and forth. Eventually assist will go away if it gets hot enough.

Such as?

My S2k sits all winter and I don't get an EPS light. Maybe I've been lucky the past 2 years?

I'm actually just curious where you got this info...

I meant the car idling and not moving. Not sitting there unused.
